New Carbon Monoxide Detector Law in Louisiana
ACT 458 – Carbon Monoxide Detectors Required in All Louisiana Homes
Effective January 1, 2023, carbon monoxide detectors became required in all homes in Louisiana.
“Carbon monoxide detectors will be required by law in every one or two family home sold or leased in Louisiana starting January 1, 2023. The new requirements are the result of changes made during the 2022 legislative session to existing state law regarding fire and safety requirements in residential homes.”
At least one operable, life-long sealed battery is required when the dwelling is sold, donated or leased. Click to read the ACT 458 Guidance and Requirements Notice.
