About Joy Cobert:
Joy Cobert is a mortgage loan officer with GMFS Mortgage in Lafayette, Louisiana, helping homebuyers across Acadiana understand their financing options and move toward homeownership with confidence. Before entering the mortgage industry in 2024, Joy spent more than 13 years as a REALTOR®. That experience gives her a valuable perspective on both the financing and real estate sides of a home purchase.
Joy describes herself as having a “teacher’s heart.” She takes time to answer questions, explain loan options clearly, and help clients consider a monthly payment that feels comfortable for them. Whether someone is ready to buy now or needs time to strengthen their finances, Joy enjoys helping them understand their next steps.
Her experience includes working with first-time and repeat homebuyers and exploring options such as conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, construction, renovation, and down payment assistance loans, when available and appropriate for the borrower. She works closely with buyers and their real estate agents to keep everyone informed throughout the process.
In 2026, Joy completed the Future Leaders program through the Louisiana Mortgage Bankers Association. She serves on the board of the Acadiana Mortgage Lenders Association and previously served on the board of the REALTOR® Association of Acadiana.
Originally from Houma and raised near New Orleans, Joy now calls Acadiana home. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her children, family game nights, and trips to the beach.
